IPS e.max Zirconia: From Material Science to Natural Esthetics

START TIME:

4:00 p.m.

END TIME:

5:00 p.m.

IPS e.max Zirconia has introduced new possibilities for minimally invasive restorations, but many laboratory technicians still ask the same practical questions: How does it mill? How does it perform in speed sintering? How accurate is the shade? How thin can it be? How predictable is the bonding protocol?

Through clinical cases and hands-on laboratory testing, this lecture answers those questions by evaluating the material's milling quality, optical behavior, sintering options, infiltration liquids, shade accuracy, masking ability, ultra-thin veneer applications, and laboratory bonding protocols.

The lecture then moves beyond the material itself to explore the esthetic potential of IPS e.max Ceram Art. Can a modern staining system truly reproduce the optical complexity traditionally achieved through cut-back and layering? Through practical demonstrations, attendees will learn how surface texture, enamel effects, brightness control, dentin chroma, and predictable staining workflows can create restorations with remarkable depth and vitality while minimizing porcelain build-up.

This presentation combines material science with artistic principles, providing practical techniques that can be immediately incorporated into everyday laboratory workflows.

AI in the Denturist Clinic: Smarter Charting and Reduced Administrative Burden

START TIME:

1:00 p.m.

END TIME:

2:00 p.m.

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly moving from theory to day-to-day reality in healthcare clinics — including denturist practices. This one-hour continuing education session will explore how modern AI tools can support more accurate patient charting, improve after-hours patient communication, and reduce the administrative load on practitioners and staff.

Presented by Dean Fenwick, founder of DOMx and long-time practice-management advisor to denturists across Canada, this session will focus on practical, real-world applications of AI rather than technical theory. Attendees will see how AI-assisted clinical documentation can transform casual chairside or post-appointment dictation into properly structured, professional SOAP notes — improving consistency, clarity, and record quality.

The presentation will also examine the growing role of AI-based phone attendance, including how AI assistants can responsibly handle missed calls, after-hours inquiries, appointment requests, and basic triage — reducing reliance on voicemail while maintaining professionalism and patient confidence.

Special attention will be given to privacy considerations, consent, data residency, and professional accountability, with discussion tailored to the Canadian and BC regulatory environment.

This session is designed to inform, not overwhelm — helping denturists understand what is possible today, what is coming next, and how to evaluate AI tools responsibly for their own clinics.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how AI-assisted charting works and how spoken, informal clinical notes can be converted into structured SOAP documentation.

  • Identify practical use cases where AI can reduce charting time while improving clarity and consistency in patient records.

  • Explain how AI phone attendants differ from voicemail, and how they can support patient communication when staff are unavailable.

  • Recognize key privacy, consent, and data-handling considerations relevant to AI use in Canadian denturist clinics.

  • Evaluate whether and where AI tools may be appropriate in their own practice, based on clinic size, workflow, and patient expectations.

Zirconia & e.max Veneers – Handcrafted vs. Machine-Made

START TIME:

2:00 p.m.

END TIME:

3:00 p.m.

When it comes to creating a truly aesthetic smile, the outcome is not defined solely by the choice between e.max and zirconia.

This session explores how esthetic success is driven by the clinical foundation and highlights the key elements that set exceptional veneer cases apart from the mainstream approach, reinforcing four central ideas:

  • The magic lies in the details.

  • Tooth preparation is what truly holds the key to esthetic success.

  • Handcrafted vs. machine-produced veneers.

The concept of going the extra mile—elevating veneer outcomes through the principles of Slow Dentistry.

This lecture is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to optimize your cases and strengthen your partnership with your dental lab.
