About the Course

Implant overdenture using locator abutments can improve the quality of life for many completely edentulous patients. However, delivering implant overdenture has its own set of challenges. There are tissue related and implant related factors to consider. The fundamentals of complete dentures still apply to this type of treatment. Common concepts such as determining vertical dimension of occlusion and learning how to find centric relation with confidence will be covered. In addition, a detailed delivery protocol designed by Dr. Leung will be shared to provide a smooth delivery outcome and minimize complications.

Course Objectives

  • To review treatment options for the Completely Edentulous Patients

  • To learn the different fabrication and insertion protocol for implant overdentures

  • To review the basic concepts on VDO and CR

    • How to evaluate VDO

    • How to find CR with confidence

  • To learn how to troubleshoot complications related to implant overdentures

    • How to ensure the denture does not get locked?

    • How to ensure the patient can remove the denture easily.

    • How to troubleshoot to ensure proper engagement if the attachments do not engage at insertion

    • How to retrieve locked denture
