Description
  • Ability to clinically manage/treat Composite cavities

  • Ranging from minor incisal edge chipping to cases involving loss of substantial tooth structure like fractures.

  • Ability to use single-opacity composites in a layered technique.

  • Ability to use multi-opacity composites.

  • Ability to combine the use of flowable composites with restorative composites.

  • Ability to use both total and self-etch bonding systems.

  • Ability to accurately match a shade.

  • Ability to finish and polish a restoration to anesthetic and natural gloss and contour

  • Onlay preparation for indirect composite porcelain restorations

  • Restorations of the severely damaged posterior tooth with direct composite technique

  • Overlay preparation for indirect tooth-colored restorations

  • Bonding of onlay with dual-cured cement

Learning Objectives
  • An awareness and understanding of the various treatment options available for a variety of composite veneers cavity presentations.

  • An understanding of the relation between the different presentations and the technique indicated.

  • Awareness of different types of dental materials and instruments used.

  • Choose the best material for each case presentation.

  • Hands-On experience with a variety of cases, materials, and techniques.

  • The ability to troubleshoot and rectify common issues related to the use of each material & technique mentioned in the course

  • Posterior indirect tooth-colored restoration (Inlays, Onlays & overlays)

  • Indications for indirect tooth-colored posterior restorations

  • Preparation techniques for inlays, onlays & overlays for two different types of materials: composite and porcelain

  • Restoration of root canal treated posterior tooth with overlays and endo crowns using direct & indirect techniques

About Dr. Farokh Asefzadeh, 
MSc. in Restorative & Esthetic Dentistry

 Dr. Asefzadeh received his DDS and MSc in Restorative and Esthetic dentistry from Tehran University with honours and has 25 years of experience practicing cosmetic dentistry.  Past Chairman of Restorative Dept., Shahid Dental School and has won three national research awards. He is the author of three books in Restorative Dentistry and is a very skilled and passionate lecturer and is the Instructor of International Center for Dental Education (Ivoclar Vivadent) in Iran. He was the chairman of the 9th Congress of Cosmetic & Restorative Dentistry in 2008.
