Digital dentistry is here, and it is not going anywhere.  We all need to learn how to utilize it to the advantage of our patients and our practices.  Digital dentistry is on everyone’s mind - yet there seems to be some confusion as to what it really means and how all the parts fit together.  This presentation will look at all components of digital dentistry and attempt to draw a picture of how they sync and work collectively.  All practitioners can be involved in the process and use digital concepts to help move our treatments forward.

 

Dr. Izchak Barzilay received his DDS from the University of Toronto in 1983, a Certificate in Prosthodontics from the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY in 1986, and MS from the University of Rochester in 1991.  He is Head of the Division of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ont.; Head- Prosthodontics, Bridge to Health Medical and Dental; Adjunct Professor, Division of Prosthodontics of the Eastman Department of Dentistry, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY; Professor, George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto, ON; Associate in Dentistry, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ont.; Chief Examiner in Prosthodontics – Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

 

He is in private practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Toronto, Ont.  He has published on various topics including immediate implants, bonding plastics to various metals and other material and implant related topics.

Technology in the Modern Dental Office - A Practical Setup Guide

Summary

 

With the ever-increasing availability of dental technology, this course will show participants how to incorporate technology into their practice to facilitate what they can provide to their patients. Digital workflows for same-day crowns, guided implant surgery, and in-office clear aligner therapy will be demonstrated.

Amarjit Rihal, DMD obtained his DMD degree from the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry, in 1995. His professional interest has involved all aspects of implant and CAD/CAM dentistry. He has additional training in both hard and soft tissue grafting as well as placing and restoring implants. In addition to implantology, Dr. Rihal has acquired expertise in CAD/CAM based prosthetic dentistry, involving numerous CAD systems and materials. Utilizing his CEREC ac, Sirona InLab system, and Nobel Procera scanner he has designed over 4000 restorations. He currently manages operations of his in-house lab Lodge Dental and is the owner of his own digital lab called Rihal Digital Designs.

 

Dr. Rihal has trained with numerous ceramists in California and is versed on ceramic pressing and layering techniques over zirconia and metal substructures. He presently is a partner in a large group practice in Winnipeg, MB and serves on the boards of the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA), National Dental Examination Board (NDEB) and the current chair of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC).

Michelle Glover graduated with honour’s from George Brown College as a Level II Dental Assistant. She worked as lead CEREC CDA in private practice for five years where she developed her skills in the world of digital dentistry. Michelle became very passionate and well versed in CAD/CAM and the benefits it provides to the dental industry through advanced training with CEREC Doctors. This began her drive to educate and inspire others to understand the benefits of CAD/CAM both from a dental practice and laboratory workflow.

 

In 2016 Michelle join the dental sales industry by accepting a CEREC Representative position with Patterson Dental. It was through her passion for digital dentistry that she accepted the Lab Digital Solution Specialist role with the industries leader in CAD/CAM, Dentsply Sirona.
