Course Description

Crown and bridge is bread and butter of general practice and is routinely recommended for patients requiring indirect restorations. Advances in material science and CADCAM technologies have revolutionized and simplified the treatment procedures.

 

Forward thinking clinicians must negotiate this rapidly changing landscape and evaluate these new advancements that have the potential to improve and enhance the desired treatment in both interim and the final phase of treatment outcome.

 

With such an increase in demand in procedures comes a desire to simplify the experience in regards to

  1. Patient management skills, treatment acceptance,

  2. Chair side fiber post and cores,

  3. Crown and bridge preparation, temporization, final impression, lab communication, occlusion, and final prosthesis.

Course Details

 

Virtual Didactic and Hands-On Objectives:

  1. Post and core indications and usage

  2. Learn efficient techniques in crown and bridge provisionalization.

  3. Overview of tooth preparation. Do’s and Don’ts

  4. Pontic designs, soft tissue management, balance with pink and white esthetics.

  5. Crown lengthening vs gingivectomy (indications and rationale) (Restorative challenges)

  6. Digital and conventional impression techniques and tissue retraction.

  7. Shade selection, Lab scripts, lab communication,

  8. Ceramic selection

  9. Cements and cementation techniques.

Hands On:

  1. Chair side post preparation in endodontic treated teeth and fiber post cementation.

  2. Core build up.

  3. Single crown and 3 unit FPD

  • Tooth preparation:

  • Impression (Digital and conventional) (3 Shape)

  • Soft tissue management.

  • Temporization

  • Lab communication (lab scripts, material selection

Dr. M.K. Bobby Baig B.D.S., A.E.G.D., Cert. Prostho.,F.R.C.D.(C)
Dr. Baig received his dental degree from H.K.E.S Dental College, Gulbarga University, India in 1997. He has completed his residency at Government Dental College and Hospital in Hyderabad India, after working for seven years in India as a general dentist he decided to move to Canada for a higher education.

Dr. Baig completed Advance Education in General Dentistry program and Graduate program in Prosthodontics at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester New York state USA. Dr. Baig is a Clinical Assistant Professor at University of Rochester in the Department of Advance Education in General Dentistry at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester, USA. He also works as a Clinical Instructor in Prosthodontics in the Department of Periodontics at University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, Staff Prosthodontist at Mt Sinai Hospital. Toronto, Canada. Dr. Baig is a board-certified Prosthodontist in Canada and has a special interest in aesthetics and implant dentistry, CT guided Implant surgeries, Dental Ceramics and smile makeover procedures.

Dr. Baig lectures to dental study clubs and professional organizations across North America and Southeast Asia. Dr. Baig is a fellow of Royal college of Dentists of Canada, member of Ontario Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Prosthodontic Society, New York State Dental Association, Seventh District Dental Society.

Leonid Gurgov acquired an Advanced Diploma from George Brown College in 2010 and successfully completed the requirements of practicing dental technology in Ontario in 2011, being the youngest dental technician granted the title of Registered Dental Technician in the province. Leonid is a member of the Association of Dental Technologists of Ontario (ADTO), a registered active member of the College of Dental Technologists of Ontario (CDTO), a member of Dental Technology Academy (DTA), of Aesthetic Design and Implant Academy (ADIA) and a member of International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). To further his education in the field, Leon eagerly participates in continuing education seminars and courses offered throughout North America and Europe. In addition, Leonid also has attended several hands-on courses with great technicians of Dental Technology such as Lee Culp, CDT, Oliver Brix, CDT, Oliver Tric, CDT, Klaus Müterthies, CDT, Sebastien Mosconi, MDT, August Bruguera, MDT, Sacha Hein, MDT, Jungo Endo, RDT, Thomas Singh, MDT, Domenico Cascione, CDT. In 2016 Leonid attended the BioEmulation Meeting and in 2017 he became an eLab instructor for North America, adding substantial knowledge and skills on his daily portfolio.

 

The most recent achievement (November 2022), is his election as a fellowship in the International Academy for Dental Facial Esthetic, in recognition of services and devotion to the advancement of the various arts of esthetics in dentistry. With the recent transforming technology, he has delved in depth into the CAD/CAM applications for complicated and multiple restorations. His knowledge and expertise make him an asset for several companies when software improvements are being implemented. Leonid’s extensive experience of working on highly aesthetic implant supported restorations, his constant experimenting with different materials to achieve optimal aesthetic results, and the relentless drive to learn and apply innovative techniques to better the patient’s experience, are some of his pivotal qualities to building a solid foundation for his career in dental technology. His enormous home-based library is enriched frequently with vintage and contemporary books, magazines, manuals, related with principals of aesthetics, a wide array of cases represented from technicians all over the world, with advancement of technology and materials alike. His constant desire of expanding and improving his skills is fascinating and meticulously inspiring.

 

The valuable knowledge Leonid has gained in all aspects of Dental Technology, his perpetual learning skills and his constant strive for excellence have made Leon an essential team player with like-minded dentists and distinguished dental technicians. Leonid’s input in the treatment planning of laboratory cases is accurate and efficient. He manages the quality control process, and follows the applications of new materials and techniques to produce restorations of the highest quality. His precise work applied in all spectrum of Dental Technology, the knowledge and intuition in fulfilling the cosmetic wishes of the patients, and passion to copy natural details are some of the true reflections of his daily work.

Mario Rotella is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (F.R.C.D. (C), board certified specialist in Prosthodontics. Dr. Rotella received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Siena (Italy), where he graduated with summa cum laude.

 

He completed a 2-year Advance Education in General Dentistry program at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. At the same institution, he completed a 3-year Prosthodontic program and a 1-year Implant surgical fellowship. Dr. Rotella focuses his practice concentrating on the treatment of complex cases of aesthetic and functional rehabilitation on natural dentition and implants, with emphasis on veneers, crowns, bridges and dentures. Dr. Rotella’s practice encompasses the traditional prosthetic procedures and the most innovative ones, with particular focus on the minimally invasive prosthetic procedures for the application of veneers, partial restorations, and all-ceramics crowns and bridges. Dr. Rotella has presented his work in several dental meetings and he has, also, published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.
